Self-Assessment
 |
- Have you created a Maplesoft
product-related program, package, collection of
worksheets, book, etc., or do you have an idea
that involves a Maplesoft product?
- Does the idea of receiving income
from your software appeal to you?
- Charging for your software would
most likely reduce the number of people who use
your work, compared to the number if it were freely
available. Do you consider this an acceptable trade-off?
- Are you willing to educate yourself
about and devote time to non-technical issues such
as pricing, promotion, license agreements and documentation?
- Are you willing to provide technical
support to your users?
- Are you using a legally licensed
full version copy of Maple? Please note that the
license agreement for the Maple Student Edition
does not allow the use of that product for these
purposes.
- Do you have clear ownership
of the intellectual property and the actual code
you want to sell, or can you negotiate a written
agreement with the other authors that will allow
you to participate in this program?
- Are you free to sell your work?
Some employers have policies limiting your ability
to commercialize your work. For example, some employers
have policies that claim the intellectual property
of anything you develop while you are employed
by that company. Some academic institutions actively
encourage the commercialization of research, but
impose conditions about profit-sharing with the
school. You will need to determine whether your
are able and willing to meet the necessary conditions.
If you answered "yes" to
all of the above questions, complete the MapleConnect
Application Procedure and tell us about yourself,
your product, and your ideas!
If you cannot or choose not to
meet all of the requirements for this program, check
out the Maple
Application Center. The Maple Application
Center provides a free distribution mechanism for
Maple related materials that may be more suitable.
Anyone can submit work for posting with only minimal
guidelines to follow, and everyone can download material
from the Application Center free of charge. The Maple
Application Center averages over 100,000 visitors
every month, and is an ideal mechanism for the free
distribution of your materials.
