Update to Maple 11 Includes Additional Language Support
Maplesoft has recently launched an update to its flagship product Maple 11. With this release, Maple 11 now includes built-in language pack support for Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Greek.

Maplesoft and NERCOMP Enter a Partnership to Offer Better Licensing Options for Members
Maplesoft announced a new partnership with the North East Regional Computing Program (NERCOMP), an organization that enables the informed use of information technology by providing affordable access to educational opportunities, software licensing discount programs, professional networking and collaborative opportunities to its member network.  According to the partnership, NERCOMP members will receive exclusive discounts on select Maplesoft products.  “We hope to open up our product suite to a wider group of users in the North Eastern region and further solidify relationships with existing Maple users,” said Darren McIntyre, Vice President, Business Development at Maplesoft.

 

Toyota and Maplesoft Partner to Advance Model-Based Product Development
Announced last month, the Toyota-Maplesoft partnership has been widely reported by general interest publications as well as engineering magazines such as Forbes.com, CBC Canada, Desktop Engineering, Automotive Business Review, and Computer Business Review. This partnership will help move Toyota to a new product development process called Model-Based Development.

Maple Plays a Significant Role in Creating Humanoid Robots
The humanoid robot research lab at the Waseda University in Japan chose Maple as the main mathematical tool to derive the equations of motion. Thanks to the application of Maple, the research team has received the Robot Academy Award and the Best Paper Award at International Conference of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.

Model-based Design of an LQR Controller for a Single Inverted Rotary Pendulum
Maple and BlockBuilder for Simulink were used to quickly develop a high-fidelity model of the mechanism and the controller for the actuator to maintain the position of the inverted pendulum.
