January 7, 2010 - PRESS RELEASE

Maplesoft™ announced an add-on component library for its physical modeling and simulation product MapleSim™. The MapleSim Tire Component Library lets engineers extend their multi-domain MapleSim vehicle models with high-performance pneumatic tire components.

The MapleSim Tire Component Library provides MapleSim users with industry-standard tire force model components. In addition, linear and user-defined tire models are available to provide flexibility for investigation and analysis. With the easy-to-use point-and-click MapleSim graphical environment, these fully parameterized force models can be integrated into existing vehicle dynamics models by simply dragging the component into a diagram and connecting the component to the vehicle model.

January 18, 2010

Claude Bourgeois, an engineering consultant and former Centre Suisse d'Electronique et de Microtechnique (CSEM) researcher, used Maple to model and optimize barrel springs made of composite materials compatible with deep etching on silicon. The use of composite materials should double the running time, i.e. the operating time of watches when they are at rest.
